"Mizuho is just like a big family. We can talk freely to each other without any barriers of culture or position."

What do you do at Mizuho?

I am in charge of handling forex and derivative transactions for Japanese corporate customers, especially for customers whose contact person is a Japanese national.

What has been your proudest moment/most rewarding experience while working at Mizuho?

Meeting Mizuho colleagues from many different parts of the world and building a collaborative network which we can mutually draw on in our daily jobs.

What is the first thing you read every day (and why)?

News, especially related to the forex market. As a customer dealer, I need to update myself with the latest market information every day to ensure that I can provide my customers with useful information.

How is Mizuho different from other places where you have worked?

Mizuho is just like a big family. We can talk freely to each other without any barriers of culture or position.

What skill or competency do you feel you have enhanced while at Mizuho?

I didn't have any background in the banking industry before joining Mizuho. I have gained a lot of new knowledge about banking, specifically regarding treasury (including the forex and derivatives markets). I have also enhanced my ability to talk with customers.

What is the most important thing you have learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?

The industry and market is changing very rapidly, so we need to keep learning and continually stay up–to–date with the latest developments.

Tell us about something you have learned from another culture.

I spent several years living in Japan in the past, and while there I learned the value of being on time and the importance of always keeping promises.
